Door intensieve samenwerking met Europese instellingen en deelname aan EU-programma’s, wil FoodNL de transitie naar gezonde voeding en eiwitinnovatie versnellen. De alliantie draagt daarmee actief bij aan de realisatie van Europese landbouw- en voedseldoelen. Door in Europa zichtbaar en actief te zijn, creëert FoodNL nieuwe kansen voor ondernemers, voor onderzoekers en voor overheden en vergroot het de Europese impact van de Nederlandse agrifoodsector. ## European Week of Regions and Cities (Brussel) De European Week of Regions and Cities in oktober is een jaarlijks evenement van de Europese Commissie en het Comité van de Regio’s, waar regio’s en steden uit Europa samenkomen om kennis te delen, beleidsontwikkelingen te bespreken en succesvolle projecten te presenteren. Het is het grootste Europese platform voor regionale ontwikkeling, waar beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, bedrijven en maatschappelijke organisaties elkaar ontmoeten om te werken aan thema’s zoals innovatie, duurzaamheid, inclusie en economische groei. Jaarlijks brengt het evenement producenten, politici, beleidsmakers, bedrijven en consumenten uit de hele wereld samen rond actuele thema’s zoals voedselkwaliteit, duurzaamheid, innovatie en regionale identiteit. Voor de vier FoodNL-foodregio’s biedt deelname aan de Grüne Woche een strategisch platform om zich zowel internationaal als nationaal te positioneren. Internationaal vergroot het evenement de zichtbaarheid van de Nederlandse kracht in het produceren van gezond, duurzaam en betaalbaar voedsel. Nationaal is de Grüne Woche bij uitstek een ontmoetingsplek om relaties met Nederlandse politici, bewindspersonen en samenwerkingsorganisaties te versterken. Die nationale verbinding is van groot belang, omdat de vier foodregio’s vanuit hun gezamenlijke expertise (overheden, ondernemers en onderwijs- en kennisinstellingen) aantoonbare toegevoegde waarde leveren aan de ontwikkeling van het voedselsysteem van de toekomst. De regio’s functioneren als praktijkomgevingen waar beleid, innovatie en ondernemerschap samenkomen en waar oplossingen worden ontwikkeld voor complexe vraagstukken rondom duurzaamheid, gezondheid en betaalbaarheid van voedsel. In een tijd waarin voedselzekerheid een steeds grotere maatschappelijke en geopolitieke opgave vormt, biedt de Grüne Woche een relevant podium om deze expertise zichtbaar te maken, het gesprek met beleidsmakers te verdiepen en gezamenlijk richting te geven aan toekomstbestendig voedselbeleid.
